What Is The Lineman College Scholarship Program?
Umatilla Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce their support to individuals interested in the Line Construction trade by awarding a $2,000 scholarship to an accreted Line College of the recipients' choice. The line construction trade is a rewarding career with exceptional pay and benefits and Umatilla Electric's desire is to develop a qualified pool of candidates for future positions in the electric utility industry.
How Much Is The Scholarship?
Umatilla Electric will award one $2,000 scholarship. Upon selection and official enrollment to an accredited Line College program, scholarship checks will be paid directly to the school.
Who Is Eligible To Receive The Scholarship?
Umatilla Electric's scholarship program is available for members and/or applicants whose parent or guardian is an active member, in good standing, with Umatilla Electric Cooperative or Hermiston Energy Services. Applicants must be a at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment in a Line College program, and be a high school graduate by summer of 2008 or hold a GED.
How Are The Recipients Selected?
Awards are based on academic excellence, work experience, participation in school and community activities. Interested Applicants must:
- Submit a completed application form which are available:

- Via the U. S. mail, e-mail or FAX
- At our headquarters facility at 750 W Elm, Hermiston
- Submit an official copy of your high school transcripts or GED.
- Include two professional letters of reference.
- Submit an essay describing in 250 words, why you are a good candidate for the lineworkers program explaining why are you interested in this type of work and what special skills you would bring to the job?
What Are The Recipient's Obligations?
Except for the requirements outlined above and a requirement to attend the UEC Annual Meeting during the year of scholarship award, no obligations will be imposed upon the student as a scholarship award winner. Scholarship recipients are not required to work at Umatilla Electric following their training, nor does Umatilla Electric guarantee positions. Other than payment of the scholarship, no obligations or liability are assumed by Umatilla Electric Cooperative.
Deadline For Application:
Applications and the required information must be received at Umatilla Electric's headquarters, located at 750 W Elm, Hermiston, no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
