Hydromania Summer Science Day Camp
Umatilla Electric's Hydromania summer science camps offer a wealth of knowledge, experience and fun for fourth & fifth graders. The two-week day camp enables young people to explore water, salmon and science issues, conduct field experiments and participate in airplane rides, farm and dam tours and nature field trips. Hydromania even offers a Teachers camp for area teachers. For more information, contact UEC's customer services program coordinator at 567-6414.
Summer Science Day Camp for Teachers
An award winning hands-on Science Camp using science, water experiments and field trips. All grade levels are welcome, however there will be one day targeted to elementary and middle school. Teachers conduct experiments that can be adapted to the various levels. The Teachers camp uses the highly acclaimed "Hydromania" and the "Kids in the Creek" curriculum. Classroom-adaptable experiments are used and the field trips promote classroom ideas and ready the teacher for applying the materials to the classroom.
2008 Idaho Youth Leadership Conference
Each year, UEC sponsors area teens that compete for the chance to attend the Idaho Youth Leadership Conference held in Caldwell, Idaho. Participants will form their own cooperative and address electric power, environmental and governmental issues. The seminar is open only to sons or daughters of UEC members.
UEC annually gives school supplies to area elementary school students who need help obtaining supplies for classroom use. During the fall, sacks of supplies are delivered to area schools for distribution by school administrators.
